Clothing & Shoe Donations

Your Donations Make It Possible!

The reason we can help as many students as we do is because of the steady stream of clothing and shoe donations from the community that fill our store. When you donate your clothing, those items go directly to students in need or in crisis and it’s all FREE. With more donations, we can help more students and provide a great selection to meet their needs.

Clothing donations can be from your closet or through a wider effort by hosting a drive. We are always in need of clothing donations.

“The smiles of my children after receiving these wonderful clothing items is etched in my heart forever.”

Organize Your Donations

Your donations have the most direct impact if you deliver your donations neatly sorted and identified. This will allow us to get them to students as soon as possible.

  • Come with your donations pre-sorted into Boys & Girls (ages 4-12), Teen Boy & Teen Girl (ages 13-21 and any adult sizes), Shoes and Extras (books, games, toys, accessories, etc.).
  • Place your donations directly into the labeled bins and take your bags with you to reuse. Please avoid leaving donations in bags.
  • If you cannot come during our weekly donation hours, please contact us to arrange an alternate time.
Host a Drive

Hosting a clothing drive is a great way to make a BIG difference in our community!  To support our mission with a clothing drive, we recommend a more streamlined effort by selecting items from our list of greatest needs. We find that focusing on one or two items makes it easy for your community to participate and leads to a successful event. Visit our Clothing Drive page for more details.

Have Questions?

We’ve included answers to our most frequently asked questions here.

How are my clothing donations used?

Your clothing and shoe donations go directly to Denver Metro area student in need or in crisis. The students who shop at Clothes To Kids are experiencing some very difficult circumstances including poverty, homelessness, displacement and home removal. Many are refugees or are in foster care. Most of our shoppers are enrolled in preschool through 12th grade, and we also serve young adults pursuing a GED (up to 21 years old).

Do you accept baby clothing?

We do not serve babies and would rather your baby clothing and gear go directly to an organization that does. If you have baby clothing (sizes 3T and smaller) or baby gear, please consider donating to one of our wonderful partner agencies including WeeCycleThere With CareGIVE Denver or Florence Crittenton Services.

Do you accept accessories?

Yes! Students love to find items that give their wardrobe some personal style. We are happy to accept many items such as jewelry, sunglasses, hats, belts, handbags, backpacks and hair bands that are clean and in good condition.

Do you take out of season clothing?

Yes we do! We can accept clothing for any season.

Do you need menswear?

Always! We never have enough men’s sizes for the high school students we serve. We can always use more tops, bottoms, shoes and coats that are current styles and appealing to teens and young adults.

Do you accept prom dresses?

We provide a school wardrobe to the students we serve and do not offer formal wear. We recommend donating your prom dresses directly to an organization that serves in this capacity such as Bella Boutique.

Do you take housewares or bedding?

No, we do not have the space or capacity for any housewares or bedding including decorative items, small appliances, blankets, pillows or sheets.

What happens to clothing donations you cannot use?

In order to be good stewards of the in-kind donations we receive, we have collaborated with a variety of nonprofits and businesses to redistribute, repurpose or recycle donated goods that are not appropriate for our shoppers. When we receive usable clothing that is not appropriate for students, it is passed along to the Metro Migrant Education Program, the Denver Rescue Mission, Family Promise, Bella Boutique, WeeCycle or Rocky Mountain Rural Health. Any items donated that have reached the end of their usable life are picked up regularly by textile recyclers.

What other kinds of non-clothing items do you accept?

While these items are not part of our core mission to provide a school wardrobe, families appreciate having books, small toys, pajamas, sporting equipment and other such items that are clean and in good condition. Would you give it to a friend?

Do you accept luggage?

Yes, we pass along luggage that is clean and in good condition to the families we serve.

What is the biggest size you accept?

3XL Men’s or Women’s (Women’s size 14/16 & up). We serve high school students through 12th grade and students up to 21 working on a GED and need all adult sizes up to 3XL/young women’s plus size clothing that are current styles and appealing to teens and young adults.
